During Lent, I’ve been praying the Rosary with only the Sorrowful Mysteries to prepare myself for His Passion. My focus has been on Jesus dying for our sins and how great of a sacrifice that was and still is today. It was during this time of prayer and looking back on my day that I realized that I was still lacking something. I was surrounded by friends, but I was lonely. I was unsure where God was calling me. I was scared and worried about my future. I felt broken.
It wasn’t until recently that I realized I needed something more than just the Crucifixion. I needed:
The Resurrection
Jesus sacrificed Himself for our sake on the Cross with the weight of all of our sin on His shoulders, but that’s not all. He went down to Hell in order to fight Satan to conquer that same sin. I always enjoy imagining this fight in different ways:
- Hockey game (I’m from Minnesota, so it’s only natural)
- Boxing match
- Pokémon battle (did I mention I’m a HUGE nerd?)
- Cook-off
- Cribbage
- Lightsaber duel (note above)
- Thumb war
Whatever way Jesus battled, it was the precise thought of you that drove Him throughout that fight. His love for you gave Him the determination to conquer Satan and your sin.
Not only did He defeat the devil but He rose from the dead! He did the impossible for you and me! He came back for the Church so that He can be with us in Spirit and Sacred Body until the end of time! Just the thought blows my mind!
I realized that I lost hope somewhere. It was dead inside me. I needed Him to resurrect my hope. God also wants to resurrect you in some specific way with Him.
What is it that God wants to resurrect in you this Easter season?
Here’s a list that I came up with to help you think:

If you’re like me, you could work on all of these. I want you to pick one; either from this list or your own reflection. Ask Jesus to resurrect this in your life by saying this small prayer this season:
Jesus, unleash the power of your resurrection. Resurrect my hope.
That’s my prayer. Instead of hope, say the item you chose from the list or the part of your life that you know needs the Resurrection most.
Let Him resurrect you. Allow Him to unleash His power in your life. Don’t hold anything back!
May God bless you this Easter season,
