Nate Specht

I’m currently going for my Associative Arts degree at Lake Superior college in Duluth and I’m working to figure out what my next step is after this.

What are your hobbies/interests?

Some of my hobbies are running, fishing, hanging out with friends and watching movies/ TV. I really am into watching crime tv shows cause I find them really interesting. I also love to just be anywhere around a body of water because it’s always just so peaceful and so much fun.

Why did you choose UMD for college?

I chose Lake Superior college because I’m from Duluth and it’s here. Mostly though since I don’t have a full idea of what path I want to go down yet it was a cheap and good place to go while I figure that out. I also knew that over here on UMDs Campus there was such a great Newman program that I would be able to get Involved with even though I don’t go to school there.

What is your favorite part about being a part of the BulldogCatholic community?

My favorite part about being a part of the bulldog catholic community is just how open and welcoming everyone is, it’s makes you feel right at home the second you walk through the doors or even just meet up with someone else from there. I definitely felt all the love when I started coming to things especially since I don’t go to UMD and I Didn’t really know anyone there but I was welcomed so quickly and just felt so at home.

Why should someone come to a Bulldog Catholic event?

People should come to bulldog catholic events because they are always such a blast and usually you are fed well. You’ll find yourself talking to so many people and just making great friendships. The events also can really help when you just need a break from college and just need to have some fun. They help make classes and other stresses go away for a bit at least. Also for those not going to UMD don’t feel that oh I don’t go there I won’t fit in, you will I felt that at first but when I got there it was like I wasn’t any different then the others.

What would you tell a Senior in high school who is looking for the right college?

To a senior in college looking to find the right college I suggest you look to see if there is a faith based community either at the school or one of the ones around it. Keeping the faith can be hard in college but if you have people there to help bring you closer to God daily it can be so much better of an experience.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned while in college?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far in college is that things change and it can be really quick but just know that the lord has a plan for you and even if you feel like you’re at rock bottom you can always come back stronger and life will always find a way to help. Trust in the Lord

Who is your favorite Saint and quote from them?

My favorite saint is St Maximilian Kolbe and my favorite quote by him is “No one in the world can change Truth. What we can do and and should do is to seek truth and to serve it when we have found it”

What has been your favorite memory in college?

One of My favorite memories from college so far was during SLS20+ With Bulldog catholic when a group of us climbed the Camelback Mountains in Arizona. It was an incredible experience and was just so fun the view from the top was so beautiful I wouldn’t take the experience back for the world.

What has been your go to Quarantine activity?

My quarantine activity has definitely been puzzles I’ve done almost all the ones we have at my house. It’s just something else to do with your time when locked inside that is fun and can be a challenge at times and I really enjoy them.
