Rufina Robbins

Expected Graduation: May 2022

Major: Vocal Performance

What are your hobbies/interests?

I LOVE making music (surprised?). I especially love to sit for hours at the piano singing and playing whatever song I’m obsessed with at that time. I also love being outdoors, hiking the north shore, and swimming in Lake Superior!

Why did you choose UMD for college?

I chose UMD because I wanted to be close to home and I knew there were some great music teachers right next to me at UMD. I also knew that I wanted to continue to foster my faith while in college. And the UMD Newman Center turned out to be the perfect place for that!

What is your favorite part about being a part of the BulldogCatholic community?

It’s so comforting to know that there are other college students striving to do good in school and also striving for heaven at the same time. It is so inspiring! I know now that I accomplished many things because of how this community motivated and prayed for me. And I absolutely love going to the chapel to pray when I’m on campus. It’s the perfect place for some quiet prayer amidst the hustle and bustle of being a student.

Why should someone come to a Bulldog Catholic event?

Not only are these events SO much fun, they are also a great way to meet new people and get involved on campus. I always learn so much at these events and leave feeling much more informed about my own faith.

What would you tell a Senior in high school who is looking for the right college?

When you are looking for the right college, I highly recommend taking a tour. Then you get a better feel for the campus and just the overall vibe. Also, try to reach out to some of the teachers to find out more about your specific degree program. And don’t underestimate the power of prayer! This is a huge decision and God wants to help you make it.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned while in college?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it’s okay to not feel like an adult yet. Of course college is a huge time to grow and become more mature, but no one expects you to do it in seconds. Enjoy these four years and don’t put so much pressure on yourself!

Who is your favorite Saint and quote from them?

I gotta go with St. Faustina, my favorite quote from her is: “Let no one doubt concerning the goodness of God; even if a person’s sin were as dark as night, God’s mercy is stronger than our misery.”

What is your “go to” activity to do with your crew?

Definitely Just Dance! We are all so horrible at dancing which makes it even more hilarious.

What’s the best Wi-Fi name you’ve seen?

Queen Elizabeth III

What’s the most useless talent you have?

Obtaining excellent chaco tan lines….
