Homily from the Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time.

A person can be touched and made new by Jesus and still not be a disciple. One common aspect of discipleship is actually doing what the rabbi tells one to do. But what happens when the disciple knows better than the rabbi? The answer is: they cease to be a disciple. But what is needed when the disciple thinks they know better than the rabbi? The answer is…they need obedience.
